Dear Sibley bike lovers,
We at the Depot want to thank you for all of the time and support you have given us. Last week, there was fantastic turn-out for our shop reorganization day. To recognize all of those who have volunteered with us and supported us in a variety of ways, we'd like to invite you to a Volunteer Appreciation Night. Tomorrow - Wednesday June 11th from 6-9pm - we invite you to stop by the shop and hang out with us. There will be food, door prizes, an update on how Sibley is doing, and we'll even be showing a movie!
In other news, the Sibley Bike Depot is currently accepting applications for our next Junior Mechanic certification class. The program is a four-session class for youth ages 12-18. Our next round of classes will take place June 24th, July 1st, 8th and 15th from 4-6pm. Over the course of the program, each participant will receive a bike and learn how to fix it up! An application is attached, and once completed it can be e-mailed to kevinkalla@gmail.com or dropped off at the shop.
We also will be hosting a women's/ transgender open shop night on the first and third Tuesdays of every month from 6:30 to 9pm. Come tune up your own bike or help fix others to be donated to the Center for Victims of Torture. No experience necessary--the mechanics are friendly gals who are happy to show you the ropes.
And finally, we have a wheel-building class coming up this month! The class is $20 to attend or free if you order parts through us. The class will take place June 19 and 26 from 6:30-9pm. E-mail Jason at jtanzman@riseup.net to sign up for the class. Parts must be ordered in advance, so the sign up deadline is 4pm on Sunday, June 15th.
