Hey Everyone!
Spring is finally here!! Or so it seems at least, and
the Sibley Bike Depot is well on its way to an exciting and active year. Thanks for all your continued support with volunteer time, bicycle donations, and everything else you do to make this organization thrive.
This April, Sibley had one of our biggest sales month in the
organization's history - just under $8,000! With increasing revenues,
Sibley can pay our (much higher) rent at our new space, and hire two part-time mechanics and a volunteer coordinator in order to help us more effectively promote bicycling within our community.
There are many opportunities for folks to help us out this month - we need your support! The next two Saturdays (May 10 and 17) from 9-2pm, Sibley has committed to staffing neighborhood clean-ups in St. Paul, where we recycle bikes and collect donations of bikes for the shop; we need folks to help work at the bike station taking apart damaged/destroyed bikes and help folks unload bikes from their cars. Call Dan Kueney at 612-860-1236 or email jason@bikeped.org to help out.
We are always looking for volunteers to help out during our Open Shop hours - volunteer to help fix bikes, scrap bikes, and staff the sales floor. We are also looking for folks with all kinds of other skills; in particular Sibley is looking for people to: help redesign our website; build shelving for bicycle display; work with youth in our earn-a-bike program; teach basic bike maintenance classes; and, many other things. If you have a skill, we can use it!!
Sibley's May 15-June 5 Basic Bike Maintenance class is now filled up - see you at from 6:30-9pm this coming Thursday if you have preregistered with me! We will be offering a Wheelbuild class on June 19-26 - registration is $20, waived if you pre-order parts through Sibley. Sign up now!
Peace,
Jason Tanzman
