New Investment = increased capacity

Ever have to wait for a stand to repair your bike?  We've seen a huge increase in the number of people that are actually using our shop for their own bicycle needs.  So much so that we have invested in TWO new repair stands from Park Tools.  One to replace a stand that did not function very well and one to add to our capacity.  These newer stands even come with a tray for your tools and small parts.

No don't fight over who gets to use the new stands!  There's plenty of room for everyone!

Volunteer Appreciation Night at the Sibley Bike Depot!

Volunteer Appreciation Night

The Sibley Bike Depot would not exist without its amazing volunteers, and we want to say thanks! Join us this Wednesday, June 11th from 6 - 9pm for a Volunteer Appreciation Night. There will be a discussion about the future of the organization, a movie, food, and door prizes!

More Cool Stuff for the Shop

Last week I found a listing on the Materials Exchange List for blue Akro storage containers.  Thanks to a timely contact, we have 50 stackable small-parts storage containers on the way!  Dan will arrange to pick them up tomorrow.  The best news is they are free!!! The non-profit-shuffle worked, and they are giving them to us, rather than charging a dollar each.

Today's Updates...

Just took a moment today to make some updates to the site.  I added the Kick-Off Meeting / Open House event on March 6th.  Now that we have some events, we should add an upcoming events block to the site.

New User Registration on the Website

Tonight I worked hard at creating the user profile pages for the site.  We have a bunch of people who have registered, but we will need them to update their profiles as we go forward.  I still don't have the link set between their profile, and their newsletter subscriptions.  I really want that right on the front page of the registration process.

Domain Name Renewal and Old Contacts

This week we have been busy getting the bikeped.org domain name renewed. That does not sound like such a big deal, but we had some trouble finding out who was actually able to log into our account at DirectNIC. So far we have John Carlson (board member), Stephen Eisenmenger (former board member), me (former executive director) and Martin Lubell (former RenBox owner) involved.

After a few days of emails and phone calls, I think we have it down now.

Looking for a Website Champion!

Winter continues, but we all know that Spring is just around the corner.  Before Winter slips away, we need to get our website whipped into shape.  That's where you can help!

Shop Update - Added Internet Line Last Night

Last night, Dan Kueny and I ran the internet connection line from the back up to the front counter.  We installed phone jacks there in anticipation of reactivating the internet connection at the shop. It went pretty smoothly, expecially considering how many wheels are in the shop that we had to navigate around.  We started around 8:45, and were out the door at 10:15 pm.

Next step is to get a wireless router so we can connect the two computers, and then provide wireless for our customers too.
